A life mask of Ludwich van Beethoven made of white clay by Franz Klein, 1812 Vienna Austria.
Vienna sculptor Franz Klein made this mask of his facial features as a study for a buste.  Most modern Beethoven depictions are based on this mask.
The mask is real size.  The top of the head has a flattened laurel.  The object is not glazed but cold painted in a black colour.  There are a lot of little damages.  Formaly some little parts were repainted in another black colour.
At the backside in the chin part is an inscribed 'A' monogram, the top head part is numbered inscribed ‘560’.  At the edge left under the 5 there are two broken rusted iron pins for the wall hanger.  
The condition is fair.
